About Us
Gail Carpenter is an educator with 16 years of experience teaching children in the classroom. She has a B.S. in education from The Ohio State University and is currently finishing her masters degree in reading from Muskingum College as well as introducing her Carpenter Literacy reading series. She wrote the stories to meet the educational needs of her kindergarten, transitional 1st grade students while she was teaching Title I reading. While staying home with her children, she operated a private preschool and developed a preschool reading curriculum for instruction in beginning reading skills. Gail has designed and nationally sold calico preschool learning games to help children learn their letters and sounds. Agencies such as Head Start, Montessori, and special education have benefited from these games. Gail has a passion for helping the underachiever or any emergent reader to obtain the skills and confidence to promote successful reading. She is the mother of three accomplished children and lives in Ohio with her husband, Jeff.
Customer Testimonials
"Gail has created attractive, logical and useful materials using the phonogram approach, controlled vocabulary and high-frequency words. It offers another approach to phonics instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners."
-Polly Collins, Professor of Education Muskingum College
"I want to share with you how excited I am about Gail Carpenter's literacy program for reading. I have an Orton-Gillingham background which stresses phonics strongly, as does Gail's reading program. It is very well-organized into a booklet form, which makes it easy to use. I believe it will be very useful for new readers at any age: for struggling/beginning readers or for review."
-Mitzie Krebs, Retired 1st grade teacher - Newark City Schools
"This is the most complete reading program that I have ever used. Both of my children are excelling in their reading skills by practicing sight words and phonics combined. I look forward to future stories with digraphs, diphthongs, blends, etc."

I just wanted to say thank you for your phonics program. I love it, love it, love it! We have been using the program for 8 weeks and have already seen a difference. Prior to your program, my son used to be totally frustrated and driven to tears when he would read. I'm not seeing any of that now. I am blown away with how quickly he is progressing now. I expected your program to make a difference. I didn't expect it to happen so quickly. Your program has improved my son's reading and his self-esteem. Thank you again!

I began using Carpenter Literacy 2 years ago and I really think it is a useful tool. I saw improvement in my students' reading abilities. The books really boost their confidence. They are wonderful for learning word families. It aided them in developing comprehension skills. I would recommend this program to others. I had higher test scores and I believe Carpenter Literacy had a role in this.
-Ann Hancock, 1st grade teacher
I want to thank you for coming up with such a wonderful phonics program. It is so simple to use and the children who I used it with have really caught on. Last year, the first grade teachers began using this curriculum for their reading lessons and, this year, I have noticed that these new 2nd graders are the best readers that I have had. Thanks again for creating such a wonderful, easy to use, simple phonics program that truly works.
